We would like to introduce our staff for the school year 2010/2011.

TODDLER CLASS: (FIFTEEN CHILDREN)

ERICKA COLLINS WILL BE DIRECTING THE TODDLER CLASS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR 2010/2011.
Maya Jordan and Mette Foster will assist her.

Ericka is toddler AMI Montessori trained from the North American Montessori Center of British Columbia, Canada. She is the mother of Karis and Chet. Ericka has a BS in Social Work and a minor in Dance. She has served as a facilitator of behavioral and social skills for 9-12 graders. This will be Ericka’s second year directing the toddler class and third year at Georgetown Montessori.
Maya Jordan will be assisting Ericka Collins in the Toddler Program this year. She will also be doing the lunch program and afternoon napping. Maya has a BA in both Rhetoric & Communications and Sociology. She is currently enrolled in the AMI North American Montessori Center for a certification in the Preschool/Kindergarten discipline.

Mette Foster will be assisting three mornings/week in the toddler class. Mette has assisted in the primary class at Georgetown Montessori part time since 2005. Prior to that she assisted in a Montessori toddler class for two years. Mette is native of Denmark and is fluent in English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and German. She is the mother of two children and has a Business Degree from the University of Copenhagen.


PRIMARY CLASS: (thirty five children)

Lee Allard, Administrator, who has a BA in International Affairs and an AMI primary and elementary teaching certificate, will direct the Primary Class. Lee has 30+ years of teaching experience and has owned the Georgetown Montessori School for 26 years. She has lived in Vermont, Washington DC, Paris, France and the Virgin Islands.

LOLITA ELLIS WILL ALSO BE CO-DIRECTING IN THE PRIMARY CLASS FOR HER THIRD YEAR AND TEACHING THE EXTENDED DAY CHILDREN IN THE AFTERNOON. LOLITA IS A NATIVE OF THE PHILIPPINES. SHE HAS A BS IN ECONOMICS AND AN AMI PRIMARY DIPLOMA FROM THE WASHINGTON MONTESSORI INSTITUTE. SHE HAS 30+ YEARS TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND HAS TAUGHT IN WASHINGTON DC, PENNSYLVANIA AND CALIFORNIA AND VIRGINIA. SHE IS THE MOTHER OF TWO CHILDREN WHO ARE PRODUCTS OF A MONTESSORI EDUCATION.

ELIS CECHITTI WILL BE CO-DIRECTING FOR HER SECOND YEAR IN THE PRIMARY CLASS. SHE HAS AN AMS MONTESSORI PRIMARY CREDENTIAL FROM THE MONTGOMERY MONTESSORI INSTITUTE AND SHE HAS EXTENSIVE TEACHING EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN CARACAS, VENEZUELA. ELIS IS VENEZUALAN BORN AND HALF ITALIAN. SHE WILL BE ADDING SPANISH AND ART TO THE PRIMARY CLASS CURRICULUM. SHE IS AN ARTIST HERSELF. SHE IS ALSO THE MOTHER OF TWO CHILDREN.

MEG CLERC WILL BE JOINING THE PRIMARY CLASS THIS YEAR WORKING WITH THE YOUNGER CHILDREN AND DIRECTING THE ART PROGRAM.  MEG HAS TAUGHT INTERMITTENTLY AT GMS SINCE 1999. SHE  HOLDS INFANT TODDLER CERTIFICATION FROM THE MONTGOMERY MONTESSORI INSTITUTE AND HAS A BA IN COMMUNICATIONS. MEG PREVIOUSLY DIRECTED THE TODDLER CLASS.  MEG IS FLUENT IN BOTH FRENCH AND SPANISH AND HAS LIVED IN FRANCE, ITALY AND MEXICO.  SHE HAS TWO CHILDREN WHO ARE GRADUATES OF GEORGETOWN MONTESSORI.

CHARLES ELLIS, HUSBAND OF LOLITA, WILL BE DIRECTING AN AFTERNOON MUSIC PROGRAM, MANAGING THE LUNCH PROGRAM AND SUPERVISING PLAYGROUND TIME. CHARLIE HAS A DEGREE IN POLITICAL SCIENCE AND A LAW DEGREE. HE PREVIOUSLY ASSISTED AT ANOTHER MONTESSORI SCHOOL AND HAS FULLFILLED THE ASSISTANT’S COURSE AT THE WASHINGTON MONTESSORI INSTITUTE. CHARLIE’S MUSIC CURRICULUM INCLUDES MUSIC FUNDAMENTALS AND EXPOSURE TO DIFFERENT GENRES OF MUSIC.
